Weight with me 105." Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: The five o replied: "Depends on the combined weight of the scooter and yourself, do you want to go faster or have better torque? Depends on a lot of things? The best way is to find out the aount of torque and power the electric motor has (Wont be much) and compare it to the torque and power of the petrol engine. Probably be best to leave the gear ratio as it is. But you can experiment." A2: bob67cam replied: "u didnt list anything about tire size or 2 cycle or 4 cycle i would assume a 2 cycle but no mention of tire size for final ratio" A3: Chris AO bundaberg replied: "i have a 32cc weed wacker motor scooter on 12.5 inch wheels at 14:1, pictures email me." kevinallenyang asked: "I want to install a tachometer on my gas scooter. Im thinking of buying a tachometer that connects to a spark plug on the 2 stroke engine. Will it work? (My scooter is a E-treme XG-499 2-Stroke Gas Scooter) Please help Almost forgot the tachometer I want to get is Equus Tachometer with 4-color illumination. Also does it need power. (12volt battery)" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: Cubby replied: "don't think it will work. Usually tachs are hooked up to the coil. Unless the instructions say so, and yes you need a power supply like 12 volt battery." A2: ickypig65 replied: "Why would you want to." A3: Paul S replied: "Waste of time with a twist and go(CVT Drive) with no shifting." A4: mr_d150 replied: "I looked up your scooter and the tach online and while it can be done, I think you need to really re-think this idea. You'll need a battery to run the tach. One big enough to do the job without being recharged / replaced everyday would take up half your floor board space and add another 15-30 pounds to an already under powered scooter. Then if you accidentally hook up the power backwards, you fry the tach. OUCH!!!! Speaking of the tach, I hope you're planning to use the smaller one as the big one would, IMHO, not look as good, but then you've also going to have to figure out how to mount it, and be able to turn it off so it doesn't drain the battery Ask yourself why you really want to do this. It won't make the scooter faster. It will distract you from watching the road and since the scooters of this type aren't praised for stability or cornering precision, I really believe you're going to be too busy to watch it anyhow. Like one person said, the scooter has a CVT so it's not like you need to watch the R's for a shift or anything. Is it just going to be 'bling? Save the bucks to get yourself a bigger scooter or motorcycle later. You'll be glad you did. But, it's just my opinion. Budd P.S. the bigger scooters and M/C's already have tachs" Lily asked: "I am thinking to buy a 49 cc gas scooter , but I don't know is it legal to drive in TX. Do I need to go to DMV to register or need title?" Question posted courtesy of: Unusual Scooters Hard to find A1: itsjustme replied: "If you live in TX and have this question I would suggeest that you call your local DMV and ask them! That you would be certain to get the correct answer!" A2: nico replied: "yahh" Nicole S. asked: "I want to get a gas scooter from a STORE. It has to be cheap and not so loud. Does anybody know a store where I can find that? If the store also sells good electric scooter let me know too because I once had an electric scooter and it sucked! Thanks so much! * Kiss Kiss* I want it just to ride around the neighborhood!" Question posted courtesy of: Unusual Scooters Hard to find A1: Ricky replied: "Pep boys sells them. They are a car parts store in NJ." A2: gearhead replied: "get a small motorcycle all small wheel scooters are dangerous. the taller the tire the more stable. trustme , ex dirt maniac imagine hitting a 4x4 block of wood or a truck recap. bingo , forget scooters, they are for college campus only. electrics, your right they suck. (well the batteriers do for sure)" Steve asked: "Hi- I am 16 yrs old and am wondering if I need a license to operate a 43cc gas scooter or an electric scooter in public in Buffalo, NY Thanks!" Question posted courtesy of: X-treme Gas Scooters A1: Sandeep H replied: "yes u need" Kenny N asked: "I have a 49cc 2 Stroke gas scooter running without a muffler. the muffler broke off when i was driving my scooter around my house. I was wondering what will happen, if it will blow the motor , increase the speed or more power. I am looking in to buying one but i just wanted to now if it was safe to drive the scooter without the muffler on." Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: DynaFlowHum replied: "The muffler reduces noise but more importantly scavanges the engine exhaust gas so it runs better. The muffler also takes heat away from the engine making it last much longer." A2: Holdin M replied: "dynaflow hit it on the head no pun intended mufflers are important in the channeling of heat away from your engine and without it youd mess up valves and other goodies and let me ask it was outside you were driving around your house right?" A3: wiggerkiller01 replied: "The mufflers ONLY function is to exhaust burnt gases away from the engine. And since this is a 2 STROKE Engine it has no valves to warp from lack of a muffler, that is not of any concern. It may cause the engine to be harder to start when it is cold. You must also keep water and debris from entering the exhaust port or it will cause damage to the engine. ." A4: mdk68gto replied: "a muffler provides a restriction to the exhaust leaving the engine. this restriction maintains back pressure, that stabilizes the engines parts inside. with out back pressure, the piston is free to wobble in the cylinder bore doing a great deal of damage as time goes by. the engine will loose compression and become less and less efficient until it will run no longer. it is a flipppen scooter, they dont sound all that good stock, dont mess with it......." Tara R asked: "Hi, I have this gas scooter that we got from a friend, he has like no idea about it like brand and such, I did a 40:1 ratio of gas:oil mix, it is a blue-ish color, but when I start it, it goes okay, but it will die in a few minutes. Help ASAP?" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: mike s replied: "It sounds like a fuel filter or a pluged line.Blow them out with an air compresser. Or it had some old fuel in it and it gummed up in the carb. You need to to take it the shop and have it tuned up. They can also tell you the proper mix ratio." Hendrik H asked: "How can i build a Gas Scooter myself? I'm looking for something really nerdy here. I would like to become an engineer so my dad said i should build something. Good idea? How?" Question posted courtesy of: X-treme Gas Scooters A1: replied: "I would start out with something a little smaller. There are many kits available for gas powered models. They are easier to work with and will still show some of the engineering involved." . asked: "and how many other gallons of gas average does a scooter take to full ? As long as the scooter can get me around a small town I dont care the year. As long as it works." Question posted courtesy of: X-treme Gas Scooters A1: L H replied: "There is not enough information here, in order to tell you what you want to know someone would need to know the year, make and model of this scooter" A2: Tom B replied: "In Pennsylvania its illegal to ride any type of motorcycle under 100cc's on any limited access highway. Ur not going to get much of a scooter for $1000 I would suggest to get a scooter with at least a 200 or 250cc engine. It would go as fast and keep up with traffic I would also suggest to buy a scooter from the major Japanese brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and avoid any of the Chinese made knock-offs" A3: Gort replied: "New To Scooters Check your regional craigslist for sale motorcycles for used scooter values. Related PA Fact Sheet" A4: Paul S replied: "Most 50cc scooter hold just over a gallon of gas and get 70-100mpg. Look at used scooters for what you want to spend. Stay away from 99% of scooters made in China." A5: budda replied: "gas for a scooter costs $ 2.85 and holds maybe 2.5 gallons" A6: € h ë m ‡€ ã L replied: "unless you buy an old used piece of crap,,,you arent gonna find a scooter for that price....but....good luck.!!" A7: Craig M replied: "You can get a 150cc scoot for less than $1,000 shipping included off of the net. The scoots use only premium fuel. If you get one of these expect to have to work on it yourself or take it to a shop. What most of the dealers on the net are putting on their sites about this scoots is not facts at all--example a lot say top speed of 75 mph for the 150cc scoot when in the real world it is a lot closer to 55mph. The 150cc is not a highway scoot--in town yesThe 150cc engines have more problems than the 250cc engines. The dealers warranty is for parts only not labor and you might have to wait 2 to 3 months for the new part/s to come in. Warranty is a great big gamble on these scoots." A8: shadow_relevant03 replied: "u can get a brand new one for 800-950 dollars from pepboys but i donno like someone said in pennsylvania it hvae to be 150 cc then the cost would be 1600 dollars . by the way i'am about to buy one very soon , shit gas prices are going high i'am about to walk very soon instead of paying 3.00 dollars a gallon .in michigan u need a least 50cc without a motorcycle licence or insurance . so why not go for it . the 50 cc from pepboys is a baja sports it goes up to 40 mph and drive 100 mpg but i'll say cause the epa cheat so it would drive 75 mpg the tank i think was rated at 1.2 or something i don't remember . if ur looking for a faster one under 50 cc if it's allow in ur state they also have 50cc that goes around 50 mph but mostly scooter dealer have them but they cost 1800 for 50 cc" the_eyedea asked: "I have a 9 mile commute and am sick of buying into the whole gas slavery that my car has forced me into. I was thinking about getting a scooter, most likely electric. Any suggestions?" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: Treebeard replied: "Hey, I think you'd be better off buying a gas scooter, because electric ones are relatively new and besides, you'd have to wait for a while after your scooter's run out of charge. I would recommend the Bajaj line of scooters. They're Indian, and you can see them all over the place when you're in India. They also get fantastic gas mileage. Also, if you're still set on getting an electric scooter, look at places like AutoZone and PepBoys (where they sell electric scooters, but I really don't know why!) for electric scooters under $1000" A2: gy650 replied: "At the disadvantage of not knowing your speed requirements, elevation, flat or hilly terrain . . 49cc 4-strokes go around 30 mph and are classified in SOME states as mopeds, and may not require registration or insurance. 150cc 4-strokes go around 60 mph, need to be registered and insured as motorcycles, and require that driver license endorsement. Best would be a Honda, Yamaha, or Kymco from a local dealer . . or possibly used from your regional craigslist. Most economic (unclear if you mean initial sales price or operating, maintenance, and depreciation costs) would be an online crate scooter purchase." A3: kavekarst replied: "If there are no hills, posted speed limits faster than 25, and you have alternative transport for snow conditions I'd suggest a 50cc of Japanese make. The Chinese Models have more problems. I also know a 32 year old mother of two who bicycles 24 miles each way on her five day work week except on snow days; then, she rides in with a co-worker and shares fuel cost." sweethucksdbd asked: "Like a desperate Mom at xmas time, I purchased my son's ONE wish, a gas powered scooter, from the internet. Needless to say, it lasted about 2 weeks before it needed replacement parts, and the company does not return calls or emails. I tried the manufacturer, but they have NO idea what I need, which I took straight from the parts list that came from the scooter! Needless to say i'm more than frustrated and have searched endlessly for these parts on line. The scooter is made in China and is a NS46 49cc Gas scooter. The parts required are: 2 Axes sockets (#39 #50 on the parts list) Adjusting Breech Block (#49 on the parts list) Axle Tree (# 43 on the parts list) Please, please if anbody can help me find these parts or substitutes for them i'd be forever grateful. Thanks so much! HI and thank you ..i've tried the website ...and the part number search but still nothing...thanks so much for your time." Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: Tony M replied: "Try to find a part number stamped on one of the parts and search that part number online. It might lead you to a site to get parts. Good luck." A2: quilting_mildred replied: "Try" A3: greyclam replied: "I am afraid to say it might be eaisier and cheaper to buy another of the same scooter than to get parts to repair a throw away scooter. Japanese and European brand names are that 50-100% more $'s because you are buying warranty, customer support, but above all a place to get the machine serviced, repaired and buy parts. and besides.... you meet the nicest people on a Honda." tommyko724 asked: "Is 50cc gas scooter legal in San Francisco without licence? I've heard anything less than 50cc (gas or electirc )is legal, is it true? Can any one please answer it? I'm planning to buy one soon. Thanks for your help~" Question posted courtesy of: X-treme Gas Scooters A1: oklatom replied: "Legal as can be, providing you are operating it on private property." A2: vf29_sandman replied: "u cant ride this on either the street or sidewalk. if u are found doing so, the cops will impound it, u will get a fine for it also. they are only legal on private property. u can listen to those that know, or do it on ur own and find out the hard way. btw, they're so small they're next to impossible to spot until u are right on top of them...in which case, it will be impossible to avoid from running over u." r0bert86 asked: "I'm making a gas scooter but i could only find a pulley clutch anyony have any idea on how to found or make a 12in wheel .push scooter wheel with a pulley on it ?" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: RKtech replied: "Check with Northern Equipment, they have lots of parts to build your own scooters, mini bikes and go carts. Here's a link to their site. " A2: kkinserkk replied: "Heres a few things, Go to the neareast lownmower shop and ask them for a clutch pully of your size." gca328 asked: "I'm Looking to buy a gas scooter about 49cc or less that is cheap but very durable (around $200-350) What would you people say has the best welding scooter and best put together!! List any Sites that sell this" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: SIR GOLFALOT replied: "Yamaha." A2: geo46er replied: "You will find NOTHING new that cheap, even the cheapest Chinese scooters on ebay are twice that amount. Kymco scooters are considered to be a well build and inexpensive scooter. Search out a dealer (of any make) someone may have a used one for sale. Check" A3: preachershoe replied: "Bicycles today cost more than that. For that price range, you can get a motor kit to bolt onto your pre-existing bicycle. They are a lot of fun but the quality is crap. There is nothing good and new for $350 bucks. If your stuck to that price range, look for an old Honda." A4: gy650 replied: "Check your regional craigslist for sale motorcycles . . might find an inoperable scooter that can be repaired. Used China 49cc 4-stroke scooters in good running condition are usually $500-$800." Jay S asked: "I dont mean like a moped just a little 40cc gas powered scooter? 10 pts for an answer, that helps. THANKS" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: jeselynn_81 replied: "if your driving it on a road with traffic you must have a license like everybody else and obey laws so 16 at least.. if your driving on private property and staying off roads and such its up to your parents" A2: Jake replied: "I am from Michigan where you can ride at 15, but it looks like Wisconsin you need to be 16. Check out the source site." A3: oklatom replied: "Sorry. Can't be done. Moped yes, scooter no. Differences between a moped and a motorized scooter A motorized scooter is similar to a traditional foot-propelled scooter with two small wheels except it is powered by either an electric motor or gasoline engine. A person operating a motorized scooter typically is in the standing position although some scooters are equipped with a bicycle seat. Unlike mopeds, which may be driven legally on public roads, a motorized scooter may not be operated legally on public roads or sidewalks within a roadway’s right-of-way. Motorized scooters do not meet federal safety equipment standards for motor vehicles and are not designed for operation on roadways. Therefore, the law treats motorized scooters like lawn tractors, all-terrain vehicles, go-carts, mini-bikes and other off-road motor vehicles that are not allowed on public roads. In addition, anyone operating a motorized scooter on a street or sidewalk without a valid driver’s license could receive a citation for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license. For juveniles, such a violation could result in their being ineligible for a driver’s license when they turn age 16." yo asked: "Can i put a bike gear sprocket on a gas scooter to make it faster because they made the gear so it takes off fast but goes slow so i wanted to take a bike gear with was geared for medium speeds and put it on the 33cc scooter so you think i could?" Question posted courtesy of: Unusual Scooters Hard to find A1: Jake McKeon replied: "probably not without some good tools, like a welder, drill press, and a mill or something." A2: Tinker replied: "I'd rather not get mixed up in this, it very rarely ends well for all concerned. After you put the bike sprocket on the scooter, what chain did you have in mind? Because you will have to cut it to fit. And if you expect to use the BICYCLE chain, think again. There are varying sizes of chain, so you need one with the same tooth spacing as your chain sprocket, and the same width as well. Don't try it. If you got lucky it might work for a while, but eventually the chain will break, and it may hurt you or an innocent bystander." Clayton B asked: "I ordered a 50cc X-treme xg-505 electric start gas scooter i do not want to break it so want to know can you go off jumps with a scooter without springs." Question posted courtesy of: Unusual Scooters Hard to find A1: jbahm112 replied: "Yeah you can anything is possible It would be rough as hell and not very good for the frame of your scooter, is it a sit down or stand up?" A2: lokisgodhi replied: "Once or twice. ;-) Why would you want to do a dumbass thing like this anyway? If you want to do jumps, get a 50cc dirtbike." A3: gixx replied: "just do it. how fast is it?" A4: Garfield replied: "The jumping part is easy it's the rough landings that suck." A5: spyder45 replied: "Sure you can if you can if you want to break your scooter, and get your self hurt!!!!" A6: Tim D replied: "Just had a look at some ads for that model, love the suggestion that the frame won't break. I suspect that after a few jumps it would soon start folding where the handlebar post meets the frame (where it is supposed to – for storage), digging in the front of the deck, and pushing you backwards off the scooter." A7: Scott H replied: "I really don't think they are intended for jumping. You can jump a wheelchair, if you get it going fast enough." V-lad asked: "I am thinking of purchasing the evo 2 40cc stand up gas scooter, its small light wieght and it has a 40cc epa certified 2 stroke motor. But would the cops give me a hard time if they catch me on it? I know I ve seen people use those 2 storke gopeds. So what do you all think can I get away with epa certified?" Question posted courtesy of: WholesaleScooterList.com-Gas Scooter A1: replied: "They probably will most of those things are not legal or safe to be on the street. The EPA certified might mean it was given a pass because of limited usage and small motor." monkey... asked: "Where can i find a cheap gas scooter for around the price of 50$-150$?
